In order to care for your pool, it is important to know what you have in the way of type of pool, gallonage of pool, and filtration equipment. Following is a chart that will help you document what you have which should help you to maintain the pool and will also help you describe your situation to your pool service technician when trouble arises.

*Capacity in Gallons—Proper determination of pool capacity is critical when it comes to the addition of pool chemicals. You have to know how much water your pool contains so that you can correctly calculate the proper amount of chemicals needed to treat the water.
Following are some formulas:
Rectangle or Square Pools—Length x width x average depth x 7.5 = gallons. If your pool is L shaped, break it down into two pools and use the same formula.
Round and Oval Pools—Length x width x average depth x 5.9 = gallons.
Freeform Pools—Average length x average width x average depth x 7.5 = gallons.
To figure gallonage on freeform pools, sometimes it is easiest to divide the pool into smaller pools, and then add the figures together.
**Equipment Information—Most of the time, your pool equipment has a label on it that will have the brand name, model number, size, and serial number. If you are having trouble identifying a piece of equipment, bring a photo of it to Gohlke Pools—usually we can identify it.
